Ryan is home to many wonderful and unique traditions that help build our strong community a few of which are listed below.
Tuesday’s with FJ
Every Tuesday night following Hall Council, our amazing priest in residence, Father Joe Carey affectionately known as FJ, hosts the women of Ryan Hall in his apartment for baked goods and community. The baked goods shared are made by FJ and his loyal crew of helpers. This fun tradition allows FJ to get to know our ‘Cats and provides a great late night snack!
Come on up after Hall Council and contact Mary Carroll (email@example.com) or Daniela Cabada (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you’d like to help bake. FJ is always looking for more bakers!
Waffle Wednesday is the perfect midweek spiritual reassurance. Waffle Wednesday Mass is held in the Ryan chapel at 10pm every Wednesday followed by waffles and fellowship in the 2-4. The mass is only half an hour hosted by our very own Father Joe.
GNI (Girls Night In):
Every Friday night hall staff hosts a Girls Night In with a variety activities ranging from movie nights to nail painting parties to scavenger hunts. There is always free food and it is a great chance to hang out around Ryan, get to know fellow ‘Cats, and spend time with our awesome hall staff.
Ryan Hall Thanksgiving:
Arguably the very BEST day of the year, Ryan Hall Thanksgiving is one of our most beloved traditions. Every November our ‘Cats come together to share a Thanksgiving meal before leaving for break. We cherish this time to be together as a community and reflect on how blessed we are. The potluck dinner is put together by us ‘Cats ourselves, and we enjoy showcasing the baking talents of our residents.
Coffeehouse is hosted by our amazing rector. She welcomes all her residents into her apartment on Thursday mornings for coffee, donuts (Ryan loves Dunkin), and community. It’s a great time to both talk to our rector and other residents before starting your day.
These traditions and the wonderful food that comes with them are only some of the great traditions and activities that we have in Ryan Hall to build our strong community.
